Metallica announces a new album for 2023 and a tour in Europe and America

The legendary American heavy metal band Metallica announced on Monday the release next April of a new studio album and a tour in Europe and North America in 2023 and 2024.
The album “72 seasons” will be released on April 14, 2023 and will be immediately followed by concerts in Amsterdam, Paris (Stade de France on May 17 and 19), Hamburg in Germany, then in Sweden, according to statements from Metallica and the giant ticketing and entertainment Live Nation.
This will be followed by concerts in the United States and Canada from August to November 2023 (Los Angeles, Phoenix, Detroit, Montreal…) before returning to Europe from May 2024 (Munich, Helsinki, Warsaw, Madrid…), 7then again in North America (Chicago, Seattle, Mexico…) until September 2024.
The Californian quartet, whose founding members such as James Hetfield, 59, and Danish drummer Lars Ulrich, 58, have been playing and performing for 40 years, have promised two concerts at each of their stops with a different show each day.
Their 12th studio album – the first since 2016 – features 12 tracks, one of which, “Lux Aeterna,” was unveiled Monday.
According to James Hetfield, the title of the opus “72 seasons” refers to the “first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false self.”
“Our parents told us +who we are+ (…). The essence of our adult experience is to replay or react to our childhood experiences. To be prisoners of our childhood or to free ourselves from these links”, writes the American singer, who, in four decades of career, broke with many excesses and addictions and even led with his group a psychotherapy told in a documentary in 2001 (“Metallica: Some Kind of Monster »).
With the power of its metal sound, Metallica had awakened in September a New York charity concert for the climate and against poverty of a dozen American and European artists organized in Central Park, in the heart of Manhattan, by the American NGO Global Citizen.

In August 2018, Kenneth Mitchell was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He had been in a wheelchair since October 2019. By August 2021, he had lost the use of his voice due to the disease.

Alexei Navalny’s body, which his relatives had been demanding for over a week, has been handed over to his mother, the Russian opposition leader’s spokeswoman said on Saturday.

Watching a Sylvester Stallone film in VF will never be the same again. Alain Dorval, the French actor who dubbed the American, died on Monday night, his family announced.
Alain Dorval had been battling cancer for several years, which finally claimed his life earlier this week at the Gustave Roussy hospital outside Paris.
He was best known as the French voice of Sylvester Stallone, but also distinguished himself as Tiger in the Fievel saga, and as Pat Hibulaire in the Disney universe.
