The Baldwin family has grown once again. This Thursday, September 22, Alec Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria Baldwin, gave birth for the 7th time to a baby girl named Ilaria Catalina Irena Baldwin.

On Instagram, the actor’s wife posted a photo to announce the news to her followers: “She’s here! We are so excited to introduce our little dream come true, ilaria catalina irena (…). Her Baldwinito siblings are spending the day bonding and welcoming her into our home.”

Hilaria continued, “Much love to all of you. We are so happy to celebrate this wonderful news with you. »

It was last March, still on her Instagram account that Hilaria, 38, revealed the news of her pregnancy to her followers. “After many ups and downs over the past few years, we have an exciting top and a huge surprise: another Baldwinito is coming this fall,” the former yoga teacher wrote then.

“We were pretty sure our family was complete, and we’re more than happy about this surprise,” she continued. “Our new baby is a very bright spot in our lives. A blessing and a gift.”

American singer Anita Pointer, who enjoyed success in the 1970s and 1980s with her sisters in the rhythm and blues group Pointer Sisters, died Saturday at the age of 74 of cancer, her agent announced. “I am sad to announce that my Grammy-winning client Anita Pointer has passed away after a heroic battle with cancer,” Roger Neal said on Instagram.

She died at her home in Los Angeles surrounded by her family, he told CNN. Her loved ones spoke in a statement, “Despite our deep sadness at the loss of Anita, we are comforted to know she is now with her daughter Jada and sisters June and Bonnie, and at peace.”

The group, originating from Oakland, California, was originally formed by Anita and her sisters June (deceased in April 2006), Bonnie (deceased in June 2020) and Ruth. They had started singing in the church where their father was a pastor in Oakland.

The Pointer Sisters, initially influenced by jazz, be-bop and gospel, released their first album in 1973 and won three Grammy Awards during their career. They were invited to Nashville’s legendary Grand Ole Opry, a first for black artists.

Bonnie launched her solo career in 1977, but that didn’t stop her sisters from having more hits in the 1980s.

The American drummer Fred White, of the funk group Earth, Wind & Fire died at the age of 67, announced Monday his brother and a former member of the musical group.

Born in 1955 in Chicago (Illinois, north), White had started playing drums at a young age. During his career, he won six Grammy Awards with the legendary funk band formed in 1969 by his brother, Maurice White, who died in 2016. “Our family is saddened today by the loss of an incredible and talented family member,” wrote another of his brothers, Verdine White, in a post on Instagram, recalling that he had “gold records from the age of 16…!”

Earth, Wind & Fire quickly rose to prominence in the 1970s, becoming one of the first to break down racial taboos in pop music, and enjoyed tremendous success in both the white and African-American communities. In 1979, the group was the first African-American band to perform to a sold-out crowd at New York’s prestigious Madison Square Garden.

On the band’s official Instagram page, a video was posted of White performing a drum solo at a 1979 concert in Germany accompanied by the message “Rest in Love.” He went on to work with other artists, including soul singer Deniece Williams.

White, as a member of Earth, Wind & Fire, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.
The band was known not only for its songs, but also for its high-energy shows, with a strong presence of horns and a kalimba, an African percussion instrument made of metal flakes.

Without ever having completely left the scene, the group experienced a resurgence of notoriety after the election of President Barack Obama, who invited them to be among the first artists to perform after he entered the White House in 2009.
